It’s comforting to compare notes!
From the outset, though, let’s be clear that despite everything, the people interviewed had it a lot easier than many others. As retirees, they didn’t have to cope with unemployment or revenue losses. Moreover, they appreciated living in an exceptional, natural, environment, protected, and far from the city.
Our interviewees display a very real empathy for parents obliged to work from home while caring for children sent home from school. They’re also concerned for their grandchildren and for all the young people cut off from their friends and social activities.

There were also regrets that restrictions on the number of people they could meet prevented them from playing their role as grandparents. Although … Michèle found a way to do that over the summer.
