Thanks to the project Parole des ainés funded by the QADA program, Héritage Sutton can take pride in now having a rich Oral History Collection that has been fully digitized, transcribed and indexed. It includes 94 audio testimonials, recovered from the Héritage Sutton collection and sixty-one new testimonials, more than half on video; many were part of sharing workshops. These meetings with these witnesses from Sutton’s past have greatly enriched our visual documentary collection, since many of them gave us access to their family photo albums and authorized us to digitize them. This set, now grouped in the Oral History Collection, constitutes a first-hand reference and an essential source for documenting the history of Sutton.
The enhancement of this rich heritage is well underway on several fronts: public meetings with former employees of the old Filtex spinning mill, with immigrants and retired teachers.
